Systems overview

An automation and controls system for the packing, labelling and despatch of printed materials.

Two conveyor systems queue and merge the products for barcode application. A spiral conveyor takes the products up to a second conveyor system, where the barcode is scanned before the products are placed in a carton.

The carton license plate is scanned and imio software uses the data to link the product (and the customer details) to the carton. The information is also used to track the products.

The boxed product moves along the conveyor to a weighscale and carton sealer where the correct shipping label is applied using the data gained from the previous scans. The carton moves to the sorter, where it is scanned again and sorted to the correct destination for carrier collection.

The system runs 24 hours a day 5 days a week and consistent throughput is essential to meet customer delivery deadlines.
