09 Feb Conveyor Networks take their first steps into the parcel handling sector!
Warehouse automation and software provider Conveyor Networks have designed and installed a parcel handling system for a major global distribution business.
The company was opening a new Service Centre in response to dramatic growth in business and parcel volumes. It needed to handle national and international freight – inbound and outbound – from two main airport distribution hubs.
The types of goods handled by the service centre are unpredictable, varying in their size, weight and type of packaging.
Conveyor Networks ability to create an intelligent, automated solution meant that the distribution company were able to:
- Maximise throughput – with volumes of 3000/hr – in order to meet transport deadlines at the distribution hub and for interconnecting flights.
- Minimize error rates.
- Provide real time data for operational analysis.
- Minimize instances of double and triple handling for larger goods.
Conveyor Networks warehouse software platform – imio – drives the automated equipment via the PLC. It is able to collect the operational data and send it to the high level host systems.
Ongoing servicing and support by Conveyor Networks also plays an important role in making sure the parcel handling system runs consistently to the required level.
