18 Jan imio software provides robust reporting for W.H. Smith
imio Software Solutions
Warehouse software and automation provider Conveyor Networks have developed a Reporting interface for their imio software suite that provides WHSmith with business critical management information.
imio logs and stores every action relating to sorting and packing operations at two sites. There are a wide variety of products including plastic totes, cardboard boxes and shrink wrapped items.
Conveyor Networks and WHSmith mapped all the processes and different scenarios in order to design a set of default reports, one of which gives WHSmith the information needed to invoice each store accurately.
Each report has multiple filters enabling the data to be used in a number of ways. Furthermore the reporting interface can be accessed remotely by any device providing real time operational updates. The software can either run independently at individual sites or as a single package depending on the host IT set up. In WHSmith’s case imio runs independently at each site.
It is also possible for advanced users to create additional reports.
Ian Mattock, Operations and Facilities Manager at WHSmith commented “imio’s reporting interface enables us to be accurate and transparent about all aspects of our operation. Overall the upgraded system and support package delivers well for us and it’s been a really positive project to work on.”
The software installation took place for operations at 2 sites, one of which also included a sorter upgrade.
Conveyor Networks designed and installed the system in 2010, however the sorter needed to be extended from a 13 to a 21 way sort. The new configuration allows 20 product exit routes and 1 re-circulation route.
All items are put onto the sorter, imio verifies the barcode and selects the correct destination.
A pallet is built at each chute and a final hand scan confirms everything on the pallet as a safety net. The Operations Managers have complete visibility of all processes and any issues/errors via imio’s user friendly Supervisor app.
When imio combines with machinery the benefits are faster, clearer processes with accurate tracking and reporting from software that integrates seamlessly with other management systems. A clear UI for operator and supervisor applications means that very little training is required.
Notes for Editors
imio is an intelligent warehouse software suite for e-commerce, retail and FMCG. It links virtual host systems (e.g. ERP, WMS) to physical operations and can be used for complete process management (inbound and outbound) or as discreet applications. It is wholly owned and developed by Conveyor Networks.
